Our Safer Mobility Analytics & Research Tool (SMART) is a cloud-based web and analysis tool for improving road safety in line with Vision Zero for the public and private sectors. Municipalities and other users benefit from extensive data material from the Mobility Urban Safety Intelligent Cloud (MUSIC), which – clearly prepared and innovatively combined – offers direct added value for traffic planning and traffic management on site. You work with exclusive data – depending on the service package booked, from basic functions to automated interfaces to or from internal municipal applications.

What is the road safety situation on the entire road network in a city or region? Where can short-term measures prevent further accidents and improve the safety situation? Where should cyclists or pedestrians be better protected in the future? These questions and many more can be answered with the extensive data provided by the SMART platform.

Regularly updated accident analyses and evaluated vehicle data on critical driving maneuvers provide a sound basis for traffic planning and management throughout the city. As an additional module, data on traffic volume classes (DTV) and vehicle speeds can be displayed. These comprehensive facts show specifically where measures in the road network will achieve the greatest safety benefits – for example by setting up new 30 km/h zones, structural adjustments such as cycle lanes or targeted speed checks. This results in continuous and sustainable road safety monitoring, which also enables transparent monitoring of the effectiveness of implemented measures.

In addition to the objective criteria, a portal for citizen participation such as gefahrenstellen.de or schulwege.de can also be integrated. In this way, reports from citizens on danger spots can be bundled centrally in the SMART portal and can be evaluated directly in the context of the wider factual situation.

Extensive filter options allow you to view and evaluate the data according to individual criteria: With just a few clicks, you can see where, for example, dangerous places for cyclists are to be found, where the top 10 danger spots are or where poor road conditions or speeding are the main cause of accidents and much more.

Export possibilities as well as interfaces offer you optimal support for further own evaluations, for meetings or for the presentation e.g. of your own data. for the accident commissions.

The integration of a defect detector into the system is also possible on request.

The scope of functions in detail

The SMART Portal includes various functions that vary depending on the package booked. In the following you will find a list of possible functions:

Hazard score

Benefit from the unique hazard score, which provides a concrete risk indication of the individual areas for your municipality’s road network down to road/intersection level. The holistic analysis enables algorithm-based predictions of potential new accident blackspots. The scientifically sound methodology combines police accident data with additional indicators such as safety-critical driving maneuvers from cars or hazard reports from road users.

Accident data

Individual accidents can be displayed and filtered on the map. Filtering is possible, for example, by year, type of traffic participation, accident severity, etc. Additional information that complies with data protection regulations can be retrieved for each accident.

Pulse data (safety-critical driving maneuvers)

Evaluated sensor data from cars on safety-critical driving maneuvers such as sharp braking or speeding. Evaluated as a 5-level risk score in the integrated, digital road safety map.

Hazard messages

Dangerous situations in road traffic reported by road users. Structured query categories enable filtering according to subject areas such as visual obstructions, speeding, parking violations, etc. Weighted according to activity level and evaluated in a 5-level risk score.

Traffic volume data (optional)

Traffic volume based on DTV from Floating Car Data for the entire road network.

Speed data (optional)

Speeding violations and driven speeds such as V85 from floating car data for the entire road network.

School mobility management (optional)

Use of the portal for targeted collection of danger reports on routes to school. Survey of students and parents. Integration of the digital school route planner schulwege.de.

Integration into your municipal offer

Integrate an individualized hazard map directly into your municipality’s website and bundle the receipt of citizen*s reports on a central, digital platform. Accompany targeted traffic infrastructure measures and generate data-based foundations for decision-making processes.

Seal for active communities

Use our seal for active municipalities in road safety work to communicate internally and externally: demonstrate your commitment, actively involve citizens and make the streets of your municipality a little safer.

Hazard management (optional)

Manage and edit hazard points received. Assign work assignments to agents, coordinate internally with colleagues via the tool and inform external agencies (e.g. civil engineering office, green space office) about hazardous areas (incl. dialog ticketing).

Civil dialogue (optional)

Enter into a dialog with citizens about danger spots from within the portal. Respond to requests centrally and take advantage of the cloud to digitize your municipal transport infrastructure processes.

Defect reporting functionality (optional)

At the same time, you can use the portal as an integrated defect reporter for the municipal concerns of your citizens.

Interfaces / APIs (optional)

Integrate gefahrenstellen.de seamlessly into your digital infrastructure and exchange data with existing systems via standardized interfaces.
