The HarMobi (“Harmonizing Mobility”) research project investigates the causes of danger and conflict in critical road traffic situations. The aim is to improve road safety for everyone through better analysis. Data on near-accidents and traffic conflicts is extremely important for this. With the help of an Android app, this data on critical driving maneuvers is collected anonymously as part of the research project. Since July 2025, test cyclists in Aachen have been supporting the project by recording journeys with the app. General statistics on the maneuvers already recorded can be found here. Since September 2025, test cyclists have also been on the road in the city of Hanover. You can find the statistics on the maneuvers recorded there here.
If you are interested in participating as a test cyclist for the city of Hanover , please contact us using the form below. Since February 2026 there are also some test cyclists in Reutlingen and the surrounding area. They can also contact us using the form below:

Notes on using the app (available for Android)
- Mount the smartphone in portrait format in the holder on the handlebar, see example photos:

- App requires an existing mobile/internet connection
- Keep the app screen in the foreground while driving if possible
- At the end of the recording, answer the question about dangerous situations experienced with Yes or No: Was there a dangerous maneuver such as sharp braking or sudden swerving during the journey? Please enter details of the situation and location as a comment.
