TLS encryption. If SSL or TLS encryption is activated, the transmitted volatile data cannot be read by third parties.
Required permissions and data collection by our apps
To provide the functionalities, our apps require individual permissions, which are requested by the respective operating system. These are, in particular, access to the device’s memory, as well as the authorization to determine the current location. During communication with our server, our apps transmit data, depending on the functionality used, which is processed by the server to provide the service. Additional information for the CycleSense app
In order to achieve Vision Zero (no serious injuries or fatalities on the roads), data on near-accidents and critical situations are important indicators for road safety analyses. They serve to identify danger spots at an early stage, which can then be the focus of road safety work in good time. The CycleSense app therefore collects this data on critical driving maneuvers and incorporates it into automated road safety analyses.
What data we collect and for what purpose: Data recording only starts after the start button has been activated and only if a certain critical threshold value is exceeded. The following data is recorded:
- GPS location data for the route traveled: The entire trip between activation of the start button and deactivation by the stop button is recorded. Each journey is assigned a journey ID.
- Data from the gyroscope: This data is used to determine the inclination of the smartphone in the holder and thus to be able to evaluate the driving maneuvers correctly.
- Data from the acceleration sensor: This is used to detect critical driving maneuvers such as sharp braking or swerving.
- Smartphone information: Data on the software version and model of the mobile device used is stored for the further development of the app.
- Query field and free text field: At the end of the recording, you have the option of providing information about the journey. This information will be used for the road safety analysis and will not be published.
The anonymous driving data collected is stored securely and only project partners and their authorized employees have access to this data for the purpose of road safety research and analysis. The driving data is further processed as part of the road safety analysis, enriched with additional data and analyzed accordingly.
Information, blocking, deletion and correction
Within the framework of the applicable legal provisions, you have the right at any time to free information about your stored personal data, their origin and recipient and the purpose of data processing. In addition, you have the right to correct, block or delete the stored data. At the same time, we inform that the apps we offer do not store personal data on our servers. Personal data is only stored in the local app memory. If a hazard report is submitted via the app, this is done on the website for which the data protection provisions and regulations set out here apply.
You can delete all data from the app at any time by completely uninstalling the app from your end device.
